Ampersand Publishing believes we turn to even the darkest stories looking for hope. We publish books that we believe satisfy that narrative desire, so you know with every page you turn that the ending does the story justice.

Whether it’s high fantasy, contemporary romance, or hard science fiction, our stories aim to end in a satisfying place. Endings may be bittersweet or unexpected, but won’t pull the rug out from under you. Plots may twist toward dark events, but no character will ever be killed off in the name of gritty realism or shock value.

Tapestries of diversity.

Ampersand Publishing believes that there is no such thing as ‘enough’ representation. Our stories strive to feature a wide variety of LGBTQ+, neurodiverse, and POC characters, because these communities have traditionally been disproportionately under-represented in fiction. Our goal is to share not just one character you can relate to, but several.

Content warnings.

In all of our books, content warnings are included before the beginning of the story, so readers are never taken aback by potentially triggering material. We use many of the same content warnings as the list curated by Aurichalcum Publishing, which you can find over here.
